Strands is one of the official sponsors of PAPIs’14, the First International Conference on Predictive APIs and Apps, to be held in Barcelona on November 17-18. Dr. Marc Torrens, Chief Innovation Officer at Strands, forms part of the program committee and is one of the speakers, along with industry executives from Bloomberg, Deloitte, IBM and Telefónica among others. In his keynote speech Marc will reveal a predictive mobile app and will present a research paper, showcasing Strands’ leadership in predictive machine learning.
According to Francisco Martin, founder of the conference and Strands, PAPIs’14 is the world's first international conference on predictive APIs and Apps. PAPIs is the premier international forum for the presentation of new machine learning APIs, techniques, architectures, and tools to build predictive applications. It also brings together practitioners from industry, government and academia to present new developments, identify needs and trends, and discuss the challenges of building real-world predictive applications. This first edition will focus on solving the pragmatic issues and challenges that companies in the trenches face to make predictive APIs and applications a reality. Predictive apps and API's serve a myriad of use cases: predictive maintenance, risk analysis, claim prediction, diagnosis, personalized recommendations, lead scoring, churn prevention, etc.
Strands history is rooted in recommender technology and machine learning. Strands believes that predictive algorithms are key to increase the added value for digital banking users. "These APIs abstract away some of the complexities of creating and deploying predictive models. They make machine learning more accessible to a wider spectrum of developers. They also allow them to spend more energy on user experience, getting data, experimenting and delivering value from data", explains Dr. Marc Torrens.
The conference will take place in the "Auditori" at UPC / BarcelonaTECH on Campus Nord, which seats 470 people. To learn more and register visit the official website of PAPIs’14
